Le 8 juillet 2023, la ministre de l'Habitat et du Développement urbain, Célestine Ketcha Courtès, a présidé la cérémonie de lancement des travaux de construction des drains structurants à Douala. Ce projet s'inscrit dans le cadre d'une initiative plus large, le Projet Villes et Gestion Foncière Durables, qui prévoit un investissement de près de 120 milliards de FCFA pour transformer Douala et Yaoundé.
