World Bank Funds 1,000 Young Entrepreneurs in Cameroon

The initiative is part of the second cycle of the Business Plan Competition under the Adaptive Social Safety Nets and Economic Inclusion Project. It aims to empower young entrepreneurs aged between 18 and 35 years, specifically in urban areas such as Yaoundé, Douala, Buea, Bamenda, and Maroua. This program is designed to foster entrepreneurship and economic growth among the youth in Cameroon.

The funding provided by the World Bank amounts to 5.5 billion FCFA, which will be distributed among the selected entrepreneurs. This financial support is crucial for young business owners who often face challenges in accessing capital to start or expand their businesses. The program is expected to create job opportunities and stimulate local economies.

The program specifically targets sectors identified as promising by the national development strategy, including construction, textiles, digital technology, and agro-industry. By focusing on these areas, the initiative aims to align with national economic priorities and enhance the potential for sustainable growth.
